Sexual Practices

When we talk about sexual practices it could mean kissing, hugging, oral sex, vaginal sex, masturbation or any kind of sexual activity. The term used for the different sexual practices depends on how well known the practices. Some are termed casually while others are given a biological name. There are some sexual practices that are not acceptable in many societies. There are a number of sexual practices that exist in the society and most of the sexual practices exist among people of the same age group. Yet there are a number of sexual practices that are carried out between different age groups. The normal sexual practice is basically between a man and a woman. Apart from such sexual relation we have sexual practices going on between man to men and women to women.

There are different types of sexual practices. Sexual activity including caressing, touching, stroking, kissing, massaging, and other types of bodily contact that promotes sexual excitement is known as foreplay. Generally couples start with foreplay before the actual sexual intercourse. It involves a love and care.
Masturbation involves stimulation of oneself or the partner. There is no risk involved in such type of sex, no pregnancy and no transmission of STIs. In partner or group masturbation there is a possibility of disease transmission from one person to another as there can be transmission of body fluids and infections from one person to another. Partners should wash their hands and any other objects before and after masturbation for hygiene.

Oral sex is practiced among the young age group especially teenagers. Although oral sex is believed to have low risk of spreading the STD infection yet there is some risk associated with it. Oral sex practices have a risk of transmitting HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. The risk is seen even more in serodiscordant couples where one partner is HIV positive and the other HIV negative. The risk is also great in people who inject drugs and share needles. Unprotected oral sex is safer that unprotected anal and vaginal sex yet there is a risk associated with it.

The sexual practice that is most risky for transmission of STIs such as HIV is by anal or rectal contact. Thrusting the penis or other objects in the anus can cause tears and bleeding in the rectum, facilitating transfer of blood-borne germs as such anal sex is especially risky for transmission of STIs such as HIV. Inserting and Intestinal infections and diarrhea diseases can also be transmitted by anal and rectal contact. To protect you from anal or rectal penetration or stimulation there should be use of latex condoms.

During sexual practices people also use object or sex toys. These objects and sex toys should be clean and not break during the sexual practice and should not have sharp edges and should not be shared.

Pleasure is not the only concern of the people in any relationship. More than sexual pleasure people should be concerned for individual health. Whenever people are into any sexual practices they should go for safe sex.
