If I were a religious leader today I would definitely take note of what is happening in the experience of people and why they do not accept all the teachings of their specified religion. I would ask myself, “Why do my members mistrust the church so much?” “Why is there this disparity of belief among them”? If religious leaders would just ask themselves honestly these simple questions a spiritual, grass-roots revolution would start. I would want to know why their personal experiences were not congruent and in alignment with the teachings of the church or their respective religion. Questions could lead to answers. Answers that free, rather than confine, or restrict. Notice that Americans have distrust for their church or religious organization as a whole. Why? Because the church through the ages has hidden things from them. During the “dark ages” only the elite or the priest could properly expound on the truths of the canonical Bible. The laity or the un-initiated, were not allowed to read or expound the Bible or to interpret the teachings of scripture in any way, shape or form. It was designated to the “elite” and to those who would wield their power over the common person. No wonder any thinking adult has questions that are never satisfied by the “elite” of religion. This has constituted a basic mistrust in church fathers and religious leaders. People are waking up to a new spiritual revolution where everyone is on the same common ground as the purported “elite” of religion or self-proclaimed religious leaders. They are tired of innumerable platitudes, and meaningless dogma that teaches there is an angry God who will send them to hell if they do not believe the way their religion dictates or teaches about God. They are starting to move into a wanting to know God in a more personal way. It is hard for them to swallow what others have taught them and they are starting to think for themselves, they are starting to question what has been taught them. Is it really true, or just another manipulation of the, so called, elite? To some “Bible thumpers”, or those who adhere to the doctrines of traditional religion, this might be a frightening event, and they might even feel threatened by such thinking. My prediction is that unless the traditional teachings of religion quit their religious dogma and religious “mumbo-jumbo” they have been teaching they will lose out and religion could go the way of the dinosaurs…extinct! People are beginning to think for themselves and question their leaders and their teachings which I think is necessary for transformation and change. Some will be threatened by this and want to “clamp down” even more and fill people with more “fear of God” type teachings as to control them in such a way that they will not want to depart from the traditional teachings. Do these religious “elite” not know that fear doesn’t control people forever, and that eventually people will wake up and start “smelling the coffee” for themselves? If this happens, and more controls by the church and religion are perpetrated on the masses, my prediction will be that it will be “the beginning of the end” for them…total extinction! Whether you agree with me or not, is of course your prerogative and right. I am not here to dictate anything to you. You do not have to believe me at all. I have heard that the definition of insanity is “Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results”. If you are a church, or religious leader, you need to take note that people are not accepting your teachings anymore without wanting to know the whys, or the reasons cloaked behind the teachings of the church. They want to know why the scriptures were “canonized” by an elite group of predominantly male priests who said “thus and thus is scripture, and thus and thus is not”. They want to know why there are so many factions of Churches and religions among them. They want to know why disagreeing with a church doctrine or the dogma of religion is so important. They want to know real answers to things that pertain to real life. This is what they want, what about their needs and answering their honest questions. It would be better if you just shut up and told them you “don’t know” than feeding them a line of what you have rehearsed or plagiarized from another. Platitudes and explanations that say, “Because that is the doctrine or the teaching of the holy mother church”, or the like, will fall on deaf ears. People want honest to goodness truth without any “cloaking” or covering of it. They are realizing that by going within, and experiencing God or spirituality for themselves, they are seeing something totally different than what they have been taught by their religion. They are seeing God as a God of love, and not, a God of eternal punishment. They are expanding their beliefs and incorporating their personal experience and common sense with their beliefs. I believe this is all positive and good. People should question everything that they have been taught as “the gospel” and question their religion and religious leaders. They are tired of the insanity that the church or their religion has fostered. They understand that God must be experienced even though personal experience is subjective in nature. You can rely on personal experience, you can question authority, and you can incorporate common sense thinking into your belief in God or the divine. In conclusion, my feeling is God entrusted you with a brain, with a mind, and you should engage it. You should take everything that you have adopted as truth and question it from your heart. You should go within and experience God for yourself. If the church or religion would only let people question and find out for themselves that God is a personal God who wants to be a part of their lives, and that God is interested in everything that involves their life, even to the minutest detail, than the church would grow and expand…if not…the church, or religion is up for extinction! Leaders, pastors, preachers, teachers, priest, the elite and initiates watch out. Move over and let God have its way. Move out of the way; quit controlling the masses with fear of retribution and judgment. Let people know that God is a personal God who cares and loves them with unconditional love and you will see your ranks grow and increase. Do the opposite during this spiritual revolution and you will be doomed to extinction!
