Condoms - Lubricated, flavored, ribbed are all a big improvement on sheepskin or pigs bladders

By: Feckel 3

Condoms have been around for centuries, though your average 17th Century couple would not recognize the modern latex condom. The first condoms were made from sheepskin (shaved presumably).

Condoms are a barrier method of birth control (contraception). A condom prevents the man's sperm entering the woman's vagina. If the sperm don't get into her vagina, they cannot reach the egg in her fallopian tube, so no baby is conceived.

The modern condom is made from latex and is VERY stretchy. It is possible to stretch a condom over your head, I know a school principal who did this when she was young and foolish in the science staffroom! Very few condoms fail when used properly. Condoms are tested to very high standards by women who have daughters themselves!

If a man has the AIDS/HIV virus his semen will contain high levels of the virus. If this semen enters a woman's vagina she will almost certainly develop the disease herself. Condoms, when used properly, are a fairly effective method of preventing AIDS/HIV virus transmission through semen because the infected semen is contained in the condom.

Proper use of condoms includes removing the penis from the vagina while the penis is still fully erect, immediately after ejaculation. Once the penis becomes flaccid (soft) the condom no longer fits tightly and semen can leak out into the vagina.
