The Ultimate Power of Commitment
I am writing this article around the
first of the year 2009. You are reading this article in the present moment of
now, whenever that present moment is for you. It does not matter when this
article was written or when you read these words because the message contained
herein is timeless.
The message is one of commitment and it would be hard to
write this article without referring to one of the most powerful messages of
commitment that has ever been recorded. It was written by Johan Wolfgang von
Goethe who lived in Germany
from 1749 to 1832. Goethe’s many talents as a writer included poetry, drama,
literature, theology, humanism and science. He was a man of many letters, just
as you are a person of many talents in your own right. You do know that, don’t
you?
One of Goethe’s most famous quotes is on the value of
“Commitment” and is as follows: “Until
one is committed, there is hesitancy, a chance to draw back, always
ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one
elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid
plans; that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things
occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of
events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen
incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt
would come his way.”
I highly recommend that you print this article and then take
scissors in hand and cut out this message and put on your computer where you can
read it every day. It has the power to transform your life from one of
frustration and lack to one of abundance, health and harmony.
The reason I am able to tell you this is because I keep this
quote on my desk and whenever I look at it I “Re-Commit” myself to my own
desires and goals. It is such a fascinating and wonderful “feeling” you actually
viscerally “feel” when you take this quote to heart and employ it in your life.
Think about it; I know you have goals and desires and you may
often ask yourself why you aren’t seeing the fruition of your deep intentions
and desires in your life experience. I would summit to you that you have not
really made a “COMMITMENT” to those goals. And by COMMITMENT, I mean a 100%
COMMITMENT to experience in your reality that which you truly desire.
If you TRULY DESIRE something it is worth COMMITTING YOURSELF
100%. Not 99% but 100%. The amazing thing about a 100% commitment is that it is
actually easier to be 100% committed than 99% committed. Why? Because when you
are 100% committed you leave no room for doubt or confusion. You do not allow
any contrary thoughts to invade your space because they take you away from your
goal and your goal is to “BE 100% COMMITTED” to manifesting your desire.
So let’s go back to Goethe again and put into our equation of
commitment this other element that will jump start the process of manifesting
into your current experience all that you truly desire. It goes like this:
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can,
begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.”
You cannot fulfill you innermost desires and intentions if
they stay within you. You must begin the process of creation of your dreams. It
is in this “Boldness of beginning” that you invoke the “genius, power, and
magic” of the “creator of your life” that you truly are.
You are a powerful creator and you are creating your life in
every second of your life with the thoughts, words and deeds that you think,
speak and do. You know this to be true so make a “100% COMMITMENT” right now to
start the “Conscious Creation” of your life.
Create your life exactly as you desire it to be. Nobody else
is going to do this for you. Only you have the “genius, power and magic” to
manifest into your life whatever it is that you truly desire to be, do and have.
Wow! You know this, don’t you? I know you do. So let us first
of all create our own lives to be exactly the way we want them to be and then
let us co-create a new world model based in peace, joy and love. You know you
can do it and I am a willing co-creator in your grand adventure.
